In order to exercise my hand lettering skills, I decided to create a fictitious jean label. The pencil drawing on graph paper (shown) took me about 2 hours to complete. I scanned the completed artwork and imported it into Adobe Illustrator. To created the vectorized version, I chose a font I liked for all the text (excluding the “THA”), but the “THA” and all the borders and artwork were recreated with the pen tool in Illustrator.
I was very happy with the outcome. Although this type of work is very tedious, it’s very enjoyable and the possibilities are endless.
I starting planning my next hand lettering project a few weeks ago, but have been working on fashion illustration projects for the time being. Stay tuned!
