Handbag Illustration[su_dropcap style=”simple” size=”5″]O[/su_dropcap]h how I love this handbag.  This retro-like bowling bag by Adidas is so fun, sporty and incredibly stylish.  There is ample room inside (a good size novel easily fits) and also 3 pockets for keys, lip balm, nail clippers, business cards, etc.

I started this drawing in the summer of 2016 while I was enrolled in a “Travel Sketching on Location” Workshop with The Durham Art School.  I didn’t finish it until February of 2017.  I had purchased some Daler Rowney FW Pearlescent Acrylic Inks (at The Colour Jar in Durham, ON) which I knew would be perfect for the look that I wanted to achieve.

Handbag IllustrationCoincidentally, I have walls in my home that accentuate this illustration.  I am a big fan of opposite colours so the purple and turquoise together are very eye-catching.

If you’ve read my previous posts, you’ll remember that 2016 was the first year that I had drawn (and painted) in 20 years.  I’m glad I got back into visual arts.  I am also really glad I discovered that fashion illustration “was a thing” and that my stock pile of paints, inks, brushes, pencils and papers can be used to create fun art with a subject that I love.
